Tomas, an imperial guard, and Ro, a navigator, have returned with Centauri’s coveted prize. In her glee, the ancient druid reveals a small part of her plans, but the others are only horrified. Tomas knows his time is running if he is to stop her.

“I never agreed to opening portals or helping demons,” Ro said.

“As I said, you can have the tears once we are finished. As per our agreement, I have two small favors to ask.”

“Listen, witch, I won’t help no demons or any of this. People suffer just fine without demons or dragons interfering with their lives.”

Centauri slapped her face. Ro’s defiant look remained but her eyes quivered in fear.

“I see you have been spending too much time with the lord commander. He is a fool, conflicted and confused.”

“This fool will cut you down if you strike her again,” Tomas said. The navigator didn’t deserve this. None of them did.  This madness had to end — somehow.

“A little advice, navigator, if you want to live, do what I say. I have been alive since the great Age of Heroes and stood side by side with your vaulted heroes against the demon hordes. And, yet, I still remain even after the dragons’ reign of terror.”

“Of course, you did. You helped them, just as you are about to help a bunch of demons.”

“No, I will cleanse this plane of these monsters once and for all. I will become the ruler and protector of this realm — as I have always been.”

“And, how many people will die?” Tomas said. “You forget, between the empire and Lady Enix, I have seen good intentions kill many people.”

“Only the ones that need too. Don’t get in my way — neither of you. Now, Come with me and let me show you the future of this realm.”
